The Lincoln Victory Repeating Rifle shares a similar story as the Henry Presentation Rifle. In our virtual reality, they are one and the same. Here is the actual real-life story of the Henry Rifle.

The “Lincoln” Henry Repeating Rifle

The real Henry Repeating Rifle presented to Abraham Lincoln is one of the most important, famous, and valuable rifles in the world. Not only did it belong to one of America’s greatest presidents, but it is one of the few presentation-grade Henrys ever created. The original is a priceless, national treasure in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution2 in Washington, D.C.

It was Mr. Henry3 who conceived the first practical, lever action repeating rifle patented in 1860.

"The Henry gave a single man the firepower of a dozen marksmen armed with muzzle-loading muskets."

It was not long after that America was deeply entrenched in the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln was then presented the gold-mounted, engraved “Henry Presentation Rifle”. This was part of an effort to obtain his influence in their purchase for the war effort.

By mid-1862, the first Henry rifles were in the hands of Union soldiers. After an encounter with the 7th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, which had the good fortune to be armed with Henrys, one Confederate officer is credited with the phrase,

“It’s a rifle that you could load on Sunday and shoot all week long.”

Due to its revolutionary design and rapid rate of fire, the Henry quickly found popularity both with the military and civilian purchasers. The classic repeating rifle forever changed battlefield tactics from the days of single shot rifles.

Hand Engraved; 24-Karat Gold

Back to our story… This museum-quality issue features full coverage of elaborate hand engraving across both sides of the receiver and across the buttplate. All hand engraving is done in West Elizabeth by some of the finest firearms engravers available in 1897. The entire frame and buttplate are plated with 24-Karat Gold, a gorgeous contrast to the hand-finished, high gloss stock and blued 24 1/4 inch barrel and magazine tube.

Like Lincoln’s original Henry, this rifle features the rare, early, rounded buttplate and the sporting-type adjustable rear sight, mounted in the frame position. But this is more than just a showpiece; each is a firing rifle chambered for readily available .44-40 cartridge ammunition, assuring it will become the centerpiece of even the finest arms collection.

Limited Edition of Only 250

Due to the time required to hand engrave each rifle, the edition limit is restricted to only 250.  A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each Lincoln Rifle, attesting to its uniqueness, the edition limit, and the purity of the precious metal.

To hand build each rifle, ST Horse World selected a leading expert on historical recreations, Joe S Smithton of Blackwater, West Elizabeth. For more than three decades, Mr. Smithton and his craftsmen have produced reproductions of Classic American firearms.
